SPY Mission Trip

WHO: Southminster Presbyterian Youth--current sixth graders through current seniors.

WHAT: An introductory short-term mission trip. We will be exploring themes of poverty and cross-cultural ministry. We will spend time working (and playing) with the youth group at St. Matthew’s. At the same time, we will be building mosiacs during our devotional times as we listen for God’s voice in our lives.

WHEN: 6/26-29. We will leave after church on Sunday and return Wednesday after dinner.

WHERE: St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Prosser, WA (in south-central WA).

WHY: Leaving the comfort of home can open our hearts to God in ways that we don’t usually experience. This trip is designed to be a first taste, a foundation-building time with an eye toward future mission experiences.

COST: $100, with a $75 deposit due 5/15. SPC is subsidizing the cost of the trip with support from the Dot Newell Mission Enabling Fund (YAY!).

FUNDRAISER: We will have one fundraiser. We will have a car wash on 5/28 from 10:00 to Noon. All youth attending the trip are encouraged to participate, and those who do will receive $25 toward the cost of the trip.

TIME: The deadline for registration is Sunday, May 15. A $75 deposit is due at that time.

ADULTS: Adults, including parents, who are interested in joining us are welcome to contact Aaron.

CONTACT: Speaking of which, please contact Aaron with any other questions/thoughts/etc. you may have: aaron@spcdesmoines.org, or 206.569.8556.
