Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 9:00AM Financial Update: We are 1/3 of the way through the year and our Offering is at $102,200 or about $1,700 behind 1/3 of our budget of $312,000. Thank you God and Southminster! If you have any specific questions about your giving contact Alan Davis; any questions about the church financials contact Jan Coleman or Rob Whitson.
Some have asked: Can we give stock to the church? The answer: Yes! The church has a broker and account for accepting stock. Contact Jan or Rob and they can help with the details. We turn around and sell the stock when received. The tax advantage to the donor is that any gain on appreciated stock is not taxed because it is a gift to a charitable organization. These rules allow for the "doubling up," so to speak, of tax benefits: A charitable deduction, plus avoiding tax on the appreciation in value of the donated property.
New Directories are available on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Please check your entry and let the office know if there needs to be a correction in the next edition.
Pastor Nancy’s email is – Pastor.Nancy@spcdesmoines.org
New in the sanctuary: On the wall next to the guest book table (where the worship CDs are) is a box with paper and a pen for people to write a note to Pastor Nancy on Sundays. You can give it to her or leave it in the office.
