Southminster Presbyterian Church

We are a community of people encouraging each other, seeking to be like Jesus; serving God by loving generously, proclaiming boldly, and giving with grace and humility.

Please join us for Sunday Worship Service at 10:00 am every week and the fourth Sunday at 6:00pm for an intergenerational & contemporary Agape Worship Service.

Our Essential Beliefs

We understand God to be threefold in nature.  We believe in God, Creator and Sustainer, eternal, omniscient, and omnipresent.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord and Savior. We acknowledge He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day He arose from the dead and later ascended into Heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God acting as our intercessor.  One day Jesus will come again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the agent of creation, our Comforter and Teacher, the one who guides us and encourages us, equips and empowers us for service.  The Spirit enlivens us in our salvation, enlightens us to God’s revealed Truth, and brings to our consciousness reminders of all that Jesus taught (John 14:26).  The Spirit intercedes for us (Romans 8:26) when we don’t know how to pray.

We believe the church exists to facilitate worship, prayer, spiritual growth, fellowship and service.  We value community and love each other as members of the Body of Christ.  We come together as a congregation to be strengthened and refreshed so we can, in turn, be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

The Bible is important to us.  As God’s word, it is a guide to understanding our faith and discerning God’s will in our lives.  We gain new insights from the Bible.  We are inspired and gain hope from reading and learning.

Our faith extends beyond the walls of our church.  While we love each other, we also inspire each other to love those outside the walls of SPC. We pray, we give and we serve people in need around the world. We challenge each other to model Christ in all we say and do, especially by practicing grace and forgiveness.

"Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care."

Psalm 95:6-7
